Nokia again suing Apple

Nokia announced that today it has filed a lawsuit against Apple with the Federal Court in the Western District of Wisconsin, stating that the product Apple 3G iPhone and iPad violating five patents essential to Nokia. Patents in question relate to technologies for the “speech” and improved data transmission, using the position in the applications and innovations in the antenna configuration that can improve performance and save space, which allows the device smaller and more compact. This patented innovation is very important to the success of the Nokia because it provides enhanced product performance and design.

“Nokia has become a leading developer of many key technologies for mobile devices” said Paul Melin, General Manager, Patent Licensing at Nokia. “We have taken steps to protect our pioneering development results and to end the unauthorized use of Nokia continues to innovate.”

During the last two decades, Nokia has invested approximately EUR 40 billion research and development and built one of the wireless industry’s strongest and extensive IPR portfolio, with more than 11,000 patent families. Nokia is the world leader in the development of handheld devices and mobile communications technology, which is also indicated by a strong patent portfolio of Nokia.
